Officially called L'Association Botanique de la Vallée de la Garonne
(The Garonne Valley Botanical Society) but better known as La Salicaire,
the society was created in February 1989 by a group of keen gardeners and botanists.
We welcome anyone interested in plants, gardens, the environment, wild plants and nature in general. Although centred in the south-west we also have members all over the country.
The society aims to encourage friendship, exchanges of all sorts (both plants and ideas), to widen knowledge and understanding of plants and to become a centre for plant research, the introduction and the propagation of plants.
We organize two major one day plant fairs (last Sunday in May and the third Sunday in October) drawing visitors from a wide area.
We publishes a quarterly journal "La Salicaire" which is available by subscription.
